Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
When a visitation and funeral are held in the parish, the Bereavement committee provides hospitality in the Family Room. If a family wishes to have a gathering after the funeral, a meal can be requested; contact the parish office for more information.
Further support is provided for the family at the annual All Souls Day liturgy. We honor the memory of the one who has died at this mass; family members are invited to light a candle during the mass that is kept burning during the month of November. A small reception for the families and parish is held after this mass. The Bereavement committee sends Easter and Christmas cards to the families to remind them that they and their loved ones continue to be in our prayers. In addition, a mass is offered for each of these loved ones on the one year anniversary of their death.
In the last few years, a Bereavement Support Group has been hosted in late November for people grieving the lost of a loved one. The presentations focus on the grieving process, how to take care of oneself as one moves through the grieving process, and how to get through the holidays.
Contact the parish office at (262) 968-3865 if you would like more information about this ministry, new members for the Bereavement Committee are always welcome.
Miscarriage has touched the lives of millions of families. Unfortunately this crisis leaves women and men to grieve alone. This loss is significant. Our community cares and is partnering with Life’s Connection to walk the journey with you. Life’s Connection offers hope and healing before during and after the loss of your baby. You are not alone. Life’s Connection can provide a safe place to share your loss; caring mentors to assist with doctor’s visits, hospital visits, funeral planning, pastoral care, memorial services, bereavement, and remembrance of your child; delivery aids for those families who know that they will lose their child at home or have a planned D&C during a miscarriage, a burial vessel then provides a place for your child's precious remains for later burial; a sacred holding site for the remains of miscarried babies until the time of burial, and more. Please contact them at lifesconnection.org or 262-290-5433 for immediate help. Life's Connection can be found in Mukwonago and Waukesha.
