Parish Organizational Structure Change

Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki has approved new norms for Parish Finance and Pastoral Councils, the latter formerly named "parish councils." Parishes will now use a "statute" format for the consultative bodies rather than Constitutions and Bylaws. All parishes have until July 1, 2015 to implement the new norms. Our new Pastoral Council will consist of 9 at-large members, the 2 trustees and the pastor. All at-large positions will be open for nominations. These positions will be segregated into three 1-year, three 2-year, and three 3-year terms. All previous members of the Parish Council may be nominated but no individuals on the current Parish Council are automatically appointed to the Pastoral Council with the exception of the 2 currently elected trustees. Please prayerfully consider nominating an individual or yourself for these important parish leadership positions. Nominees will be contacted by the nomination committee within 30 days to discuss their interest and further explain the roles and responsibilities of members.

Canon Law 537 - Each parish is to have a Finance Council which is regulated by universal law as well as by norms issued by the diocesan bishop; in this council the Christian faithful, selected according to the same norms, aid the pastor in the administration of parish goods with due regard to canon 532. (The pastor represents the parish in all juridic affairs in accord with the law).

Membership of the Finance Council shall consist of the pastor, two trustees, two representatives that shall be selected from the at-large membership of the Parish Pastoral Council by the membership of the Parish Pastoral Council and three at-large members of the parish with accounting, financial, legal, banking, and/or administrative expertise shall be appointed by the pastor. The term for at-large members shall be two years and shall be limited to two consecutive terms. The new members shall begin their terms after July 1 with the beginning of a new fiscal year.


Canon Law 536 - After the diocesan bishop has listened to the presbyteral council and if he judges it opportune, a Pastoral Council is to be established in each parish; the pastor presides over it, and through it the Christian faithful along with those who share in the pastoral care of the parish in virtue of their office give their help in fostering pastoral activity.

This Pastoral Council possesses a consultative vote only and is governed by norms determined by the diocesan bishop. The Council shall be comprised of the Pastor, 2 trustees and 9 at-large members, all of whom must be baptized, practicing Catholics, registered members of the parish and participants in the parish worship life, especially Mass and the sacraments, and at least 18 years of age.


The Finance Council serves as the final voice on financial matters developed by the Pastoral Council. The finance council is intended to provide an objective view of the financial state of the parish. The Finance Council will be comprised of Pastoral Council members and the Finance Council will rely on the committees of the Pastoral Council to develop ministries and budgets to fund them. The Finance Council will focus on financial matters and the Pastoral Council can now focus on mission.


The former Finance/Administrative Services Committee will now be reconfigured as the Finance Council with all the sub-committees, such as buildings and grounds, personnel, etc.. The budget process can continue as it has in the past. The budget will be reviewed by the Pastoral Council and the submitted to the Finance Council for approval. Both councils will be formed with Statutes rather than Constitution and By Laws. Statutes are a canonical document and, practically, it will allow for all purposes and procedures to be included in single documents.

2013 Annual Report

The annual report contains information regarding the previous year and the budget for the 2013-2014 year for the parish.  This will be presented at Common Meeting Night on October 14th starting at 6:30pm in the sanctuary.  All parishioners are invited to attend.
