Our New Principal Introduced

The selection of Cheryl Sanford as Principal of St. Paul School was announced by Fr. Ralph Gross, our acting pastor.

For 20 years, Mrs. Sanford has served either as an administrator or classroom teacher at the high school, middle school and elementary levels in several states. For 18 years, her work included teaching Religion in Catholic schools or in parish Christian Formation programs preparing her to be a spiritual, educational and managerial leader in her new assignment. Currently she is principal at St. Roman Parish School in Milwaukee.

In accepting the position, Mrs. Sanford expressed her pleasure "in joining the St. Paul parish and school community to offer an education that's Catholic values-enriched and Archdiocesan and state standards-based. I am committed", she said "to fostering qualities that make our schools a community of parents, teachers and students centered on Christ, enriched with mutual respect and focused on service".

Mrs. Sanford graduated with honors receiving a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from UW/Madison and a Masters in educational leadership from Marquette University. She is a member of the National Catholic Education Association and the Wisconsin Coalition of Religious and Independent Schools.

The new principal lives in the City of Pewaukee with her husband, Dan. They have two married daughters, Emily and Abigail.

Nomination Weekend

This is Mission Weekend. A time to consider our mission as a parish. We are a People Called to Worship, Community and Service and as our patron St. Paul says, to do everything with Love. With our mission in mind, the Parish Council has chosen two goals to help us focus as we endeavor to live out our mission as God's family. The first is to nurture the spiritual life of our faith community through liturgy, education, stewardship, evangelization and social justice. The second is to ensure the engagement, development and support of qualified and energized leaders to provide for the growth and vibrancy of the whole parish. This weekend we hope that in considering our Parish Mission Statement, you will be inspired to want to live it out. In order to do this as a community, we need your help!

Next weekend is Nomination Weekend, and your opportunity to help us address our second goal by raising up leaders to serve on Council or one of our Committees. We need your help to make this happen. Please down load the nomination form, pray over it and then fill it out with your name and/or the names of fellow parishioners who you believe would serve the parish well in the various positions. Then bring it back with you next weekend as your nominations to the Council or Committees. We will be sending letters to all those nominated to invite them to prayerfully consider the call to serve. As you consider each position, if a name comes to mind, trust in the Spirit, and write it down. You are God's eyes and ears.... searching for the people to be called into service.

A Call To Serve On The Parish Council

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM BEING CALLED TO SERVE ON PARISH COUNCIL? The parish community will soon be seeking new members for the parish council. Do you have a deep love for the parish? Are you being called to serve the parish in this way?

As a baptized Catholic, we are all "called" to serve Christ and the Church. Each of us is responsible to listen and respond to that call. So how do you recognize if you are being called to council?

Sometimes you may hear the call very plainly in prayer. At other times, you may hear the call voiced by others. ("I think you would do well on our parish council.") Or maybe you can see yourself more active in the parish, and this would be a natural extension of your service to the parish. Perhaps you see the need, and see yourself as capable of being of service at this time. ("If not me, who? If not now, when?")

The parish council should try to reflect "diversity." Single & married parents, the elderly, young adults, school & faith formation parents, minorities, single adults, charter & new members of the parish, etc., all need representation on the council. Whose concerns and needs could you represent?

Prayerfully consider how you would like to respond to God's call. Do you have any of these characteristics ---- ability to collaborate, deep love for the parish & its mission, a willingness to grow in holiness, the desire to serve, a broad vision, willingness to learn, & a sense of stewardship?

The confidence needed to respond to this call is given as a gift from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit provides the courage we need, if we only call upon that Spirit. Trust the Spirit!

Celebrate Catholic Schools Week! January 27 - February 2

This time each year, during Catholic Schools Week, we celebrate what makes Catholic education special, and honor those who contribute to our school's excellence. This year's Catholic Schools Week theme is "Catholic Schools Light the Way". How true! Do they ever!

Catholic schools instill in young people the Christian values our world so desperately needs. The teachers and staff lead by example each and every day by living their faith, through their words and actions, both in and outside of the classroom. If you want your child's education to reflect your faith and values, I encourage you to consider a Catholic school. Your choice will send the message that you value an education that is grounded in the Gospel Message - a message that is woven into every aspect of the school day - from the curriculum to spiritual formation to extracurricular activities. Christ's presence is evident in our Catholic schools.

It is also no secret that Catholic schools offer a comprehensive, rigorous curriculum. Teachers set high expectations for academic excellence and achieve it, which is evidenced by a 99% graduation rate and the fact that 96% of Catholic secondary students go on to pursue higher education. Catholic schools are safe, supportive, and are a place where teachers and parents work together for the benefit of each child.

Visit a Catholic school and spend time with the staff, students and parents. I know you will discover the Catholic school advantage. God bless you and your family as you consider this important decision for your child.

Faithfully in Christ
Most Reverend Timothy M. Dolan
