Liturgical Ministries

Eucharistic Ministers

Serve the Lord's Body and Blood to the Assembly at Communion during Mass.  Some ministers are additionally trained to take communion to the sick or homebound.  All Eucharistic Ministers are charged witht he responsibility of bringing Christ's presence into the world by the example of their lives.

Time Commitment:
On average once or twice per month at one Mass.  Ongoing ministry formation consists of one evening of reflection each year.

 
Greeters

Greet and make people feel welcome and at home as they arrive for worship.  Parents & children are invited to share this responsibility as a family.

Time Commitment:
Arrive 20 minutes before the start of the Mass or service, serve several times a year.  Ongoin formation includes one evening of reflection a year.

 
Lectors / Readers

Proclaim the Word of God during Mass and at various Prayer Services.  Parent and young adult or couples are invited to share this ministry as a team.

Time Commitment:
Approximately once every 3-6 weeks at one Sunday Mass.  Ongoing formation includes an evening of reflection once or twice a year.

 
Ushers

Provide a second layer of greeting and welcoming as people enter the church proper.  Serve the good order of the community and attend to the needs of the people gathering to worship.  They take up the collection, assist in the flow of people at communion, distribute parish bulletins and acknowledge people as they leave the service, attend to emergencies as the situation requires.  Parent and young adult or couples are invited to share this ministry as a team.

Time Commitment:
Same Mass for one month, four times per year.

 
Sacristans

Prepare and set up the vessels, bread and wine, liturgical books, and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel for Sunday Mass, for weddings within Mass and for funerals.  Verify that lectors and servers are present and seek out substitutes if they are not.  Assist the priest-celebrant and/or deacon as necessary.

 
Art and Environment

Create an environment suitable to the liturgical season, especially during Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter, and at various other times throughout the year as necessary.

 

 
Music Ministry

"God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song.  God dwells within each person,
in the place where music takes its source.  Indeed, God, the giver of

song, is present whenever his people sing his praises."

This is the year to finally join the choir!  All groups are open to new members.  Plan to join and add your praise to the liturgical life of St. Paul Parish.

 

Exultation Choir
Rehearsals: Thursdays, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Sing Sunday 10:00 AM Liturgy
SATB, all styles of music
Open to high school age and above

 

Praise Ensemble
Rehearsals: Wednesdays twice a month, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Sing once or twice a month Saturdays at 5:00 PM Liturgy
Contemporary sound with guitar, bass and percussion
Open to high school age and above

 

Resurrection Choir
Sing at funerals as needed.
Rehearsal 1/2 hour before funeral liturgy
Traditional funeral repertoire in unison, parts optional
Open to high school age and above

 

Youth Choir
Middle School and High School age singers and instrumentalists
Sing/play at 12:00 Sunday Youth Mass (once a month October - April)
Rehearsal 45 minutes before liturgy

 

Girls Schola
Girls, grades 7 through 12
Audition required
Sing once a month at Saturday or Sunday liturgy
Flexible schedule to be determined

 

Children's Choir
Grades 2 through 5
Schedule to be determined

 

Cantor/Song Leader
Leads the assembly's sung prayer at liturgy
Scheduled by availability
Rehearsal arranged with music director

 

Note: Instrumentalists welcome to be a part of any of the above groups.
