Meet the St. Paul School Board

  • Jeff Bajczyk

Hi, I'm Jeff Bajczyk. I joined the School Board mid-term during the 2009/2010 school year. My wife Cara and I have two sons in St. Paul School, Jared, now in grade three, and Evan in grade two. My parents taught me, by example, to always be involved and to contribute time and talent in areas where my input would be of some value. My Scouting experiences from when I was younger reinforced that philosophy. I'm now the new Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 135, chartered through our Parish, as well as a Religious Emblems Counselor for Scouting. I work as a maintenance mechanic/technician and will use that background as the new liaison between the School Board and the Parish Building and Grounds Committee. One of the motivating factors that helped me decide to accept a School Board position was in having the opportunity to have a personal stake in the decision making process of our children's education here at St, Paul. I wanted to be able to have some input in how, and more importantly "what", our children were being taught in this ever-changing educational and secular environment we live in. As a new School Board member I feel that I am now part of a team of individuals with similar goals, but of diverse opinions and backgrounds, and that as a group we function very well together in our efforts to assure our children the best Catholic education possible.

  • Alicia Balderas

Member of St. Paul’s since 2007. I am married to Michael Balderas and mother to two boys, Isaiah (7) and Noah Balderas (4). Isaiah is currently attending 2nd grade at St. Paul’s. My husband and I decided to send our son to St. Paul school because we wanted our son to learn in a loving, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment. Involvements with St. Paul’s church and school includes being a member on the school board, worked with Faith in Our Future campaign, and volunteering in various church functions. I am currently a student at WCTC working on my Associates Degree in Accounting.

  • Tim Crain

My wife and I moved the western Waukesha County seven years ago and reside in Eagle. We have enjoyed living in the area immensely, but what has impressed us most is the school at St. Paul. As an educator, I am particularly pleased with the outstanding teachers and the challenging curriculum of the school. The friendly environment of the school is also bonus. The families we have met and the friendships we have made add to an already tremendous experience.

I believe firmly in the school and the parish and I am looking forward to serving on the board.

  • April DeValkenaere

Hello, my name is April DeValkenaere. My family and I are very active in both the school and the parish; we truly enjoy and appreciate the wonderfully dedicated people supporting St. Paul’s. John and I have our youngest child here at St. Paul’s School and our oldest at Waukesha West High School. This year we have also opened our home to a foreign exchange student from Germany, who will also be attending Waukesha West High School.

I am serving as School Board Chair this year with a team of amazing individuals who have dedicated themselves to supporting and enriching the St. Paul Community. I am also the chair of the Middle School Service Club – Give Strong and I sit on the Giving Tree committee. I like to keep myself busy and show my children and family how important it is to support our parish, school, and local community. I have been a Cub Scout den leader in the past and I am currently a parent chaperone for Girl Scouts.

I work at the Waukesha County Circuit Courts in the Civil Division and enjoy the day to day interactions of not knowing what is going to happen next. The pleasure of helping people has always put a smile on my face.

I feel it is very important to help those in need and I always try to find a different way to help; whether it is simply baking homemade bread and giving it to a friend or volunteering for Special Olympics, March of Dimes, or a local Homeless Shelter. It always makes me feel better to help someone else.

I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting school year. I hope you are too!

It is a real honor and pleasure to join the St. Paul School Board this year as part of its marketing committee. My family- which includes husband Mark, and children Leo (7) and Clare (4), recently transitioned to St. Paul after the closure of St. James School. After such a warm and welcoming reception to make our family and especially Leo (now a second grader at St. Paul) feel at home, I decided to give back to the school and serve on the Board. My Marketing and Communications background includes working at Discovery World, WMVS channels 10 & 36, WTMJ-4, and the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee. My interests and hobbies include hiking, scrap booking, writing and traveling. I will do my very best to highlight and promote St. Paul School during my years of service.

  • Steve Tylicki

School Board Member since 2009. Currently involved actively in the Marketing Committee focused on media and public relations.

As a small business owner in the medical device field since 2005, I am working with the St. Paul School Board on improving the school’s presence and visibility in the community and increasing overall public awareness.

I joined the school board because I believe in the type of education that St. Paul School provides. A very strong academic education (with test scores in the top 3-4% of all schools in the state) that also emphasizes Catholic values as well. My hope is to help assist with maintaining St. Paul School’s strong position in the community and to have more students and families benefit from the experience that the school provides.

I am blessed with two children (Noelle in grade 2, Nathan in Kindergarten) and my wife Karen of 11 years.

  • Jim Vavra

My name is Jim Vavra, and I have been a member of St. Paul for 10 years. I have 4 children who are or have attended school at St. Paul. My wife Denise works on Home and School Committee. I have been on School Board for 3 years. I have always prayed for the day when our school could be affordable for all children who wish to attend regardless of family income. We are blessed with great teachers and staff with a wonderful principle who leads by example. I am on the Budget Committee and Grant writing committee. If you ever have questions you can reach me via my office at 262-542-3779. As a physician, I can be reached 24 hours a day. Thanks and God Bless.
